As part of controls based on risk analysis, the Customs Administration, through Rinas Customs, in cooperation with State Police structures, foiled an attempt to traffic narcotics at the Rinas Border Crossing Point.
During the scanning of the baggage of passengers on a flight from Toronto to Rinas, two suitcases were identified that raised suspicions of illegal contents. After a physical search conducted in the presence of the luggage owners, 46 kilograms of suspected narcotics of the Cannabis sativa type were seized, divided into 89 packages.
The persons involved, along with the seized narcotics, were handed over to the State Police structures for further procedural and investigative actions.
The Customs Administration remains committed to strengthening border controls and close cooperation with law enforcement agencies to prevent and crack down on drug trafficking, as well as any other illegal activity.
