The Durrës Court has ordered security measures for three employees of the Albanian Post of Durrës, accused of abuse of office and theft of pension money.

After reviewing the case, the court made a legal assessment of the detention measure and decided: "Prison arrest" for Elisabeta Mataj, "House arrest" for Valbona Duni, and "House arrest" for Paola Danaj.

The three employees are suspected of abusing their position by embezzling pension funds. Investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident continue. Immediately after the scandal was discovered, the Albanian Post Office took administrative measures against the responsible employees and filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office, making all relevant documentation available. The investigations so far raise suspicions of the misuse of an amount of 700 thousand euros. But there are suspicions that this damage could reach up to 3 million euros.

DECISION
1. Partial acceptance of the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës.
2. Validation as legal of the detention of persons under investigation EM, VD and PD
3. Assigning to the person under investigation E. M the personal security measure "Arrest in prison", provided for by article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as a suspect for committing the criminal offense "Theft by abuse of office", committed in collaboration, provided for by articles 135 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
4. Assigning to the person under investigation VD the personal security measure "House arrest", provided for by Article 237 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as a suspect for committing the criminal offense "Theft by abuse of office", committed in collaboration, provided for by Articles 135 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
5. Assigning to the person under investigation the personal security measure "House arrest", provided for by Article 237 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as a suspect for committing the criminal offense "Theft by abuse of office", committed in collaboration, provided for by Articles 135 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
6. The immediate release of persons under investigation VD and PD from the detention cells is ordered if they are not being held in custody for any other criminal offense.
7. The person under investigation, VD, is ordered to stay and not leave her apartment in the Ilira Neighborhood, Plazh, Durrës.
8. The person under investigation, PD, is ordered to stay and not leave her apartment in Neighborhood No. 13, Durrës.
9. The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës and the judicial police are charged with the execution of this decision.
10. An appeal against this decision is allowed within 5 (five) days at the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, starting from the day after the communication of the court's decision.
