A serious incident of violence has been recorded on the island of Salamis in Greece, where a 30-year-old Greek woman was brutally attacked and beaten by four men of Turkish origin. According to Greek media reports, the suspected perpetrators, aged 18, 20, 40 and 50, hit the woman for reasons that have not yet been disclosed by the authorities. Witnesses said her cries for help were heard throughout the port area.
"We heard noises and immediately went outside. We saw a woman running screaming for help. A little later the police arrived and arrested the four men," a witness told local media.
After managing to escape from the attackers, the 30-year-old took refuge in a nearby café, where she received first aid. Coast Guard forces arrived at the scene, intervened to rescue her and escorted the four suspects.
The injured woman was then transported to a hospital in Athens. Doctors said she suffered minor physical injuries but is in a serious psychological condition following the attack.
The four suspects, who are permanent residents of Salamis, appeared before the Central Port Authority of Piraeus to give their statements. They were then released with the obligation to appear again on June 18, while a lawsuit has been filed against them on the charge of grievous bodily harm.
