A serious incident was recorded in the village of Mamaj, part of the Tepelena municipality, where two people identified as Lisjen Shehu, 34 years old, and Xhuljano Sala, 28 years old, were injured as a result of a grenade explosion.

According to preliminary information, a 27-year-old man was in a hut where grenades were suspected to be kept, when one of them exploded in his hand. As a result, he suffered very serious injuries and is suspected of losing both hands. The young man was initially transported to the hospital and then urgently sent to Tirana for more specialized treatment.

Another young man, in his 20s, was also injured in the explosion, suffering head and facial injuries. He is currently in serious condition at the Gjirokastra hospital, and is expected to be transported to Tirana for more specialized medical assistance.

It is suspected that the explosive material was in the hut where the young people were at the time of the incident, while the full circumstances still remain unclear.
