The chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after the election of Endrit Shabani as head of the Ombudsman institution.
Bardhi, through a message on social networks, wrote that Shabani did not have all the valid signatures to be voted on, accusing the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, of abusing his office.
"Precisely by abusing his office, the Speaker of the Assembly fulfilled Edi Rama's sick ambition to seize every power, including the last constitutional institution that was not under the government's control.
However, this time the Speaker of the Assembly has exceeded every limit, misusing the signatures of the deputies of the Albanian Parliament who had withdrawn from the proposal of the relevant draft decision.
No one may use the signatures/proposals of members of the Albanian Parliament against their will.
For this reason, today, I have immediately authorized the legal team of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group to prepare a criminal report for "abuse of office" and "falsification of parliamentary documents" in collaboration with the Speaker of the Assembly Niko Pelesh, and anyone else who has a role in this unprecedented act of the Assembly," writes Bardhi.
