The Ministry of Defense has published the latest update on the fire situation in the country, where at least 227 operational forces and 16 firefighting and support vehicles are currently engaged.
Aerial vehicles were also involved in the operations, with three helicopters and an Air Tractor aircraft.
In the Tirana region, several hotspots have re-emerged during the afternoon in the Dajti area, near the Selita water plant. Forces on the ground continue to intervene and monitor, while according to the Ministry of Defense there is no risk to residential areas.
In Cikallesh, Kavaja, the intensity of the fire has decreased significantly and the fire is moving towards complete extinction, following the intervention of firefighting structures and air support.
Meanwhile, operations to bring several small outbreaks under control continue in Priska e Madhe.
In the Fier district, on the Panahor–Ndrenie–Vlosht axis in Mallakastër, the fire is under control and does not pose a risk to residential areas. The fire in the Koilac–Greshicë area is also reported to be under control.
In Abazë of Krujë, the situation has stabilized. Only a few small fires remain on the ground, mainly in areas with difficult terrain. The operation is continuing with the participation of the Civil Emergency Services, the Municipality of Krujë, the Ministry of Environment, the Forest Service and the Prefecture of Durrës District. Here too, there is no reported danger to homes.
Particular attention was paid to the situation in Vilëz i Kurbinit, where the fire reactivated in a forest area and, due to the difficult terrain and wind, endangered the church, cemetery and several homes.
Around 50 forces from the Ministry of Environment, Civil Emergencies, Police, local structures, the Forest Service and volunteers are engaged in the operation. Aerial intervention with two helicopters has stopped the flames from spreading and has avoided affecting the church, cemetery and surrounding homes.
However, the outbreak in Vilëz continues to be active and is being kept under control.
The Ministry of Defense announces that the structures of the Civil Protection system are continuing ground and air operations without interruption, with the aim of isolating, bringing under control and finally extinguishing all active outbreaks.
