Citizen protests against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama continued this evening in Skanderbeg Square, marking the 62nd day of the rallies. Protesters conveyed their messages through banners, some of which focused on the latest developments in the case of former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, following the decision of the GJKKO to change the security measure from prison arrest to house arrest. One of the banners mocked this decision, writing: "He wiped out health money with sterilization. Now he wipes out the house with a regime! He steals from hospitals, he protects himself in palaces."
Another message from the protesters was related to the demand for an investigation and accountability for senior officials. "The big fish eats the small. But who investigates the big fish? The big ones are not above the law. Accountability for all! SPAK investigates. Citizens are waiting for answers," the banner read.
There was no shortage of messages in English at the evening rally. One of them referred to previous statements by Prime Minister Rama, who had described the protesters as “ravens.” “Did you know? Ravens can recognize people’s faces and remember those who are kind or cruel to them. Resign!” read one of the banners.
Protesters have also reiterated their determination to continue the rallies in the coming days, through messages such as: "62. Even more tomorrow" and "SPAK investigates. Citizens await answers.".
