Denied, fled, exiled, convicted or executed under dictatorship, Albanian poets and writers who taught us to dream and hope became part of the European Literature Festival in Tirana.

Their verses and diaries brought to mind messages of freedom from the times of great prohibition, where speech was considered a weapon and punishable by death. As a celebration of their dreams, as a tribute to the light they left behind and their spiritual testaments.

Pieces by Martin Camaj, Musine Kokalari, Kasem Trebeshina, Frederik Rreshpja and Vilson Blloshmi were performed at the former dictator's villa in the block as a celebration of the freedom they had written about from beyond walls or borders.

With the sounds of Mardit Lleshi's music and the interpretation of actress Loredana Gjeçi, the homage to them is also a homage to the unlived lives and the works that never reached the reader.

The European Literature Festival brings together, for the second year, European authors with the Albanian public, in meetings and conversations that aim to create bridges between cultures and languages.
