Analyst Ben Andoni, in an interview for News24, commented on the protest and the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, expressing reservations about the messages given by the head of government. Andoni said that he would trust Rama's positions more if they had been made in a different political situation, while emphasizing that the European integration process is not only technical, but above all political.
According to the analyst, Rama has chosen a moment before the holiday period to react to the protest and present a new approach. He underlined that political changes, according to him, come through electoral processes, while criticizing the government for disconnecting from the economic reality of citizens. According to Andoni, a part of Albanian society seeks a more normal life and cannot always remain in wait.
"There is an entire generation that cannot live in a sense of expectation all the time. That is why this protest is being called for," the analyst said.
Speaking about political protests, Andoni said that citizens need a clear cause and not frequent protests without a defined objective.
"I would believe what Mr. Rama said as a premise, if it were under other conditions. But when you aim for integration, which is a political process more than a technical one. Mr. Rama found a moment before the holidays, that not only takes into account the protest, the part of their call, but has the document ready to reflect. As I understand it, Rama is taking advantage of the confusing part of the protest. Every change happens through electoral processes. The latter favors the opposition, but the opposition is the biggest loser in this gathering. Rama no longer knows the Albanian reality. With the scary taxes. He and many others, do not know that just as the euro has been devalued in our country, the Albanian back is being broken more and more. There is an entire generation that cannot live all the time in a sense of expectation. That is why this protest is being called for. Albanians have always protested, but you cannot protest for everything. There must be some kind of filling, embracing a cause. Don't forget the tents that have been erected from the parties, both sides. This is also a political protest. Issues related to political issues are political. This protest has rendered the opposition incompetent. Today's Albanian will live in normality. Mr. Rama has clung to the matrix of integration, which is something that holds him by force. This is a geostrategic political matrix to enter Albania into the EU. Our standards leave something to be desired. The protest is focused on two issues; Rama's resignation and the technical government.
