Three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike northwest of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, overnight, a civil defense spokesman told AFP.

Journalists reported that Israeli military aircraft flew over the Palestinian enclave throughout the night, while the situation on the ground remains tense.

The war in Gaza began after Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people, most of them civilians, according to Israeli authorities. Since then, the Israeli military offensive has caused a very high number of casualties in the Palestinian territory.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 72,549 people have been killed so far, the majority civilians, a figure considered credible even by the United Nations. Since the fragile ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025, 770 Palestinian casualties have been reported.

Data from UN Women shows that more than half of the victims, some 38,000, are women and girls. According to the UN, an average of at least 47 women and girls have been killed every day during the conflict.
