The wife of the late dissident poet Havzi Nela, who on August 10, 1988, was sentenced to death by the communist regime, hanging in the center of the city of Kukës, has given a speech before the Prime Minister's Office.
Lavdije Nela said that Rama should resign because Albania needs a new direction and not a government of crime and drugs.
She also asked Rama to apologize for the signature that his father Kristaq Rama placed on the execution of poet Havzi Nela.
"Only in Albania does it happen that the son of an executioner becomes prime minister, because after 1990 the crimes of communism were not punished. In which country in the world does this happen?" she said.
"I am Lavdije Nela, a former political prisoner. I was imprisoned together with my husband Havzi Nela. I was sentenced to 10 years in prison while my husband was sentenced to life imprisonment in the extermination camps of Spaç and Kukës until August 10, 1988.
While dictator Ramiz Alia and Kristaq Rama signed the hanging of poet Havzi Nela, while his body swayed, the party led by Edi Rama danced.
The communist regime left me without a family, without children, and we have been facing the hatred of the prime minister's family for 35 years.
Only in Albania does it happen that the son of an executioner becomes prime minister, because after 1990 the crimes of communism were not punished. In which country in the world does this happen?
When I see you for 72 days, my heart aches, you are my children of Havzi Nela because you are advancing our cause.
You held a minute of silence in this square, for the lives of those who were killed for a democratic Albania. We are not revengeful, but we want justice. I have been waiting for 35 years for Rama to apologize for his father hanging the poet Havzi Nela. Not only did he not do it, but he demanded humility from the deputies for his father.
You youth build the new Albania, the one for which Havzi Nela fought and for which Albanians spent hundreds of years in prison.
Together with you, I address the Prime Minister from this rostrum: Rama, resign!

"You are protesting for your rights, you have given the world a model for how to protest. You are demanding justice and a new government. You will save Albania from this government. We do not need this government of crime and murder, of drugs that only works for 10 people," she said.
