The President of the Academy of Sciences, Skënder Gjinushi, invited to the News 24 studio, has rejected the accusations of financial abuse in this institution, describing them as "thrown in vain".

Gjinushi said that not a single penny has been misused in the Academy of Sciences and stressed that all accusations are unfounded and not concrete. He spoke about the reforms undertaken, cooperation with other scientific institutions, including the Academy of Kosovo, and mentioned the progress in completing the scientific dictionary. According to him, the law on the Academy has been improved, adding rights and not limiting them.

Skënder Gjinushi, president of the Academy of Sciences: The Academy of Sciences is seeking an improvement in the law. We are expanding rights, not reducing rights. It has never been forbidden to run for re-election to the Academy. The law does not choose you, it gives you the opportunity to run or run for re-election. We made the new law. We leave the law to the parliament. The Assembly decided in 2019 to have three mandates. The Academy of Sciences is not a constitutional body and therefore the Constitutional Court cannot make a decision for the Academy. It has never been forbidden to run for president of the Academy of Sciences.

Mira Murati is an external member of the Academy of Sciences. We often collaborate with the Academy of Sciences of Kosovo. The dictionary has taken shape, it is being scientifically edited and a public opinion will be given on it. It is in the process of being closed. We are undertaking reforms to serve the academic system. Public money has not been abused anywhere in the Academy of Sciences. The stakes are being thrown in vain, because accusations are made in the air and not concrete.
