An alarm has been issued by Greek authorities after a prisoner escaped this morning from the Korydhalos prison in Athens, at around 09:00.
According to preliminary information, the fugitive is 48-year-old Albanian Edmond Tafa, who was serving a multi-year sentence for drug trafficking-related matters.
Authorities say the escape occurred from the central materials storage area within the penitentiary institution, taking advantage of a door opening and a moment of carelessness by staff, while routine waste removal operations were being carried out.
