Algeria have finally named a new coach, who will lead the team following the departure of Vladimir Petkovic.
The search for a new coach had begun in early August, with many well-known names in the international arena being considered, including former Albania coach Silvinjo. But in the end, no alternative convinced and Algeria turned its attention to the "home winner".
Brahim Hemdani, a famous former footballer who has played at the highest levels in Europe, wearing the jersey of Olympique Marseille and Rangers, has been appointed to the bench of this team.
Hemdani has been the coach of Algeria's U21 team and most recently led them to the Mediterranean Games in Taranto 2026, where they won the gold medal. On the way to the medal, Algeria also faced Albania U21, defeating them 2-0.
