Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the 15 years that have passed without justice for the events of January 21 constitute a great void for the families of the martyrs, describing it as a lifetime of humiliation for those who lost their relatives.

He said that SPAK should have sought justice from the GJKKO after the Strasbourg decision regarding this event. Rama recalled that for years special prosecutors have been paid the highest salaries and that inaction in this matter is unjustifiable.

Rama stressed that over the past six years, the state has created “walls and ceremonials” and paid high salaries, without taking into account the mistakes of the new institutions and the state of justice. “Every time this day comes for you, the families of the four martyrs, the stones of anger and sadness weigh on our backs in a country that rightly feels betrayed and used by the new justice system,” the prime minister added. Rama said that he fully understands the feelings of the families and does not understand those who accuse him of impunity in relation to the events of January 21. “I feel empty and weak in spirit when I see that January 21 came with the shadow of injustice on my back,” he declared.

"Their bodies have rotted away and it is not time for them to rest in peace because neither the overthrow of the old justice system, nor the independence of the judicial power and the fall of the cult of impunity have been enough to date to eliminate the shadow of the injustice of January 21. Not even the chilling decision of Strasbourg more than two years ago has kept the special prosecutors of this republic from asking the Special Court for justice for the 4 state murders of January 21, while only in the name of justice, equal for all, for 6 years we have been giving them nothing but "duavara and hosannas" and paying them salaries that are sometimes higher than ourselves and the president, without counting the patient and silent justification on our part of their extremely worrying mistakes as mistakes in the growth of a new and vital institution of the rule of law. I fully understand and do not claim the claim of those who do not "They comment and accuse with a raised finger in our direction, and mine especially when it comes to the impunity that holds January 21 hostage. But I feel equally empty in spirit and weak in position when I see how another year passes and January 21 remains with the mocking shadow of great injustice with its own injustice," he said.
