In a balance sheet for the 100 days of popular resistance, activist Edison Lika, invited to the show "Minuta e perë" on News24 In front of journalist Ola Bruko, he declared that the protest has managed to dismantle the executive's propaganda and re-establish civic trust.
During the studio conversation, Lika emphasized that the greatest victory of this 100-day resistance is the unification of citizens and the restoration of hope in active democracy.
"We have gained trust in each other and in our diaspora, which is no longer simply an ATM or a missing welfare state, but are our brothers and sisters who will help us for democracy," he said.
The activist emphasized that the protest unmasked the regime in front of internationals, foreign media and MEPs, making it clear that Albania is being governed by an autocracy and not by a liberal democracy. According to him, the protest has also sparked new hope among those citizens who saw emigration as the only solution.
Asked about the confrontation with the police escorts and police violence during these three months, Lika stated that no repressive measures have stifled the civic movement. With the resumption of the new parliamentary session, he warned of direct confrontation with lawmakers.
"As long as the strategy of those in power has not changed and they continue to turn a deaf ear, we will be there to tell you that we have not changed. We will be at Parliament tomorrow to welcome with greetings and eggs all the MPs who have not represented us, but have represented organized crime, the oligarchy and the leaders of their parties," the activist underlined.
Lika underlined that the main achievement of this action is the definition of the public discourse in the country, where every social problem or disaster – including the wave of fires that swept the country in recent days – has found its only voice in the protest square. According to him, the protest has performed the function of a true citizens' parliament, a task that official institutions have long abandoned.
