Former ambassador Roland Bimo, guest on the show "Opposition" IN News24, spoke about Albania's European integration process and the challenges of this process.

Bimo was critical of the way the state functions, stating that in Albania there is a "total arbitrariness of power", which according to him is not found in European countries.

He also commented on the reactions of foreign embassies in the country, mentioning Germany and the Netherlands, which he described as a "slap in the face to the government", but stressed that for him, Albanian citizens remain the priority.

According to him, after the 90s, Albanian business was significantly damaged and, despite this, the perception continues that the country is on the right track, while the reality may be different.

"What I feel today when I talk to people is a total arbitrariness of the state that you don't see in European countries. Historically, several mechanisms have been developed, where I see that the arbitrariness of power is today. The reactions of the embassies, German or Dutch, are a slap in the face to the government, but I don't care at all. I care about Albanians. The German or Dutch ambassador has the right to express that he will be part of the way it is governed, we see which are their interests that are affected and we don't see our interests at all. We are very committed to pleasing foreigners. All Albanian business since the '90s sees that it has been destroyed and we follow a determination that we are on the right path and we don't understand that we are on the wrong path. But it must be said that there is very little Europe in Albania, since there is very little will to make this country Europe, more is seen the desire to escape to Europe", he continued.

In conclusion, the former ambassador emphasized that "there is very little Europe in Albania," adding that there is a lack of will to transform the country according to European standards and that there is more of a desire to emigrate to Europe than to build it within the country.
