Iran will view Romania as a party to the conflict in the Middle East if it allows the United States to use its bases, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters.
“If Romania gives the United States access to its bases, we will give an appropriate legal and political response,” he said. “Without a doubt, Romania will be seen as a participant in military aggression against Iran, and this is completely unacceptable from the point of view of international law.”
Previously, the Digi24 television channel said that the US had asked the Romanian government to use the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in the east of the country for their subsequent operations against Iran.
Later, it was announced that Romanian President Nicusor Dan allowed the deployment of American aircraft and soldiers to the base.
