Iran will begin a two-week period of negotiations to end the war with the United States in Islamabad, Pakistan, starting this Friday, the country's Supreme National Security Council said in a statement, noting that the negotiation period could be extended if both sides agree.

The end of the war will depend on the US accepting the demands that Iran has set out in a 10-point statement given to the US through Pakistan, the statement said.

"It is emphasized that this does not mean the end of the war and Iran will accept the end of the war only when, in addition to accepting the principles set out in the 10-point plan, the details are finalized in negotiations," the statement said.

The statement noted that these conditions had been agreed upon by the country's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The 10-point plan mentioned in the statement includes many issues that could completely derail the process, such as the removal of all US military forces from the region and the lifting of all sanctions on Iran.

"This plan emphasizes key points such as controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz coordinated with Iran's armed forces, giving Iran a unique economic and geopolitical position; the necessity of ending the war against all components of the axis of resistance, which means a historic defeat of the Zionist regime's aggression; the withdrawal of US combat forces from all bases and positions in the region," the statement said.

Some of the additional points of the plan included: “establishing a secure transit protocol in the Strait of Hormuz that ensures Iran’s control according to the agreed framework; full compensation for damages to Iran; lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions and relevant resolutions of the Board of Governors and the UN Security Council; release of all frozen Iranian assets abroad; and finally, the adoption of all these provisions in a binding UN Security Council resolution.”
