Mojtaba Khamenei has vowed that Iran will take revenge on the United States and Israel for the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an airstrike on February 28, at the beginning of the US-Israeli war against Iran.
In a written statement, broadcast by Iranian state television and attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, he stressed that revenge is a national obligation.
"Revenge is the nation's demand and must certainly be implemented," the statement said.
He further adds: "We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and shameful murderers," describing Iran's revenge as "inevitable."
The statement was released as funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei are taking place in Iran, which have lasted several days.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public since the airstrike that killed his father. According to US claims, he suffered serious injuries during the same attack in late February.
