Democratic Party MP, Tritan Shehu, invited to the studio News24, commented on yesterday's opposition protest and the incident where MP Bledion Nallbati ended up in the hospital after a clash with the police.
Shehu described the incident as an “aggressive and disproportionate” attack by ten police officers on Nallbat, who was helping a citizen during the protest. He added that the MP was hit with batons and had toxic gas spray aimed at his face.
"The problem is an aggressive, disproportionate, unprovoked attack by 10 police officers on a man, moreover a deputy, who was helping a person and they attacked him with sticks and sprayed him with toxic gas and ran away satisfied. It was a macabre scene in my opinion. I have never seen such a scene, he was out of context, he was not clashing with anyone, he was helping a citizen, on the contrary," Shehu declared.
The MP stressed that the violence used by law enforcement was unprecedented and highlighted the tensions that have accompanied the opposition protests.
