At the turn of the century, few expected Pirates of the Caribbean to become a massive franchise. Initially led by Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley, later films shifted the focus, putting Depp's Jack Sparrow in the spotlight alongside supporting characters.
Following Depp's legal battle with Amber Heard, Disney distanced itself from the actor. But with the jury's verdict in his favor, rumors of his return have continued.
Now, The DisInsider reports that Disney may be planning a reunion of the original cast – Depp, Bloom, and Knightley – for a new film.
While details about the sixth installment remain scarce, it is said to be directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson. Fans are hoping for official confirmation during Disney's D23 Expo, scheduled for August 29-31, 2025.
