The GJKKO concluded the preliminary hearing for Meta, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi and the three other defendants and next Wednesday will decide whether or not to send the criminal file against them to trial.

During this session, the former president denied the accusations and did not hesitate to criticize Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"I have been a statesman and have never abused my office. I have lived a simple life, not a life of luxury. I have not traveled by charter nor have I drunk 33 thousand euro worth of wine," he said.

Journalist Klodiana Lala reports on BalkanWeb that Meta read before the court an interview given by former ambassador Donald Lu, where according to him Meta appeared as a promoter of justice reform. Meta is facing charges of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
