Gigi Buffon has come to the defense of Luciano Spalletti and Rino Gattuso, commenting on Juventus' difficulties and Lazio's performance in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Juventus goalkeeper stressed that the change of five coaches in four years shows that the problems of the black and white club cannot be attributed solely to the bench. According to him, important absences and physical fatigue contributed to the 3-0 defeat to Lazio, while Spalletti deserves time to continue his project.

Buffon also praised Gattuso's work, describing him as the right choice for the Italian national team thanks to his ability to create a group and restore the competitive spirit. He also noted the improvement of Lazio, considering them a more courageous, energetic and organized team.

In the end, Buffon defended Gattuso even after Italy's failure to qualify for the World Cup, emphasizing that the penalty shootout loss to Bosnia should not be judged solely by the final result, but also by the circumstances of the match.
