The Shkodra Castle and the Lëkurës Castle in Saranda will be leased. The Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation has opened a public competition procedure, through which it announces "Provision of service facilities in the cultural heritage of the Rozafa Castle in Shkodra and the Lëkurës Castle in Saranda, cultural monuments, first category with the aim of revitalization".

Subjects interested in participating in the public competition are requested to submit the documentation

The Lëkurës Castle has actually been put into use even earlier. While a similar procedure with the aim of revitalizing it was also proposed by the Berisha government at the end of its mandate in 2013, sparking a major public debate. At that time, the opposition Socialist Party came out against the leasing of the monuments and upon coming to power, it canceled some of the contracts, confronting businesses in court.

After the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation opened this procedure, the Forum for the Protection of Heritage came out against it.
Through a post, he calls the procedure a joke while asking questions about whether the Lekursi Castle is a Pizzeria or a Cultural Heritage Site?
"The Lëkursi Castle, leased by the Minister of Culture Edi Rama, was intended to be turned into a cultural point in service of the area's heritage. After 25 years, this castle is a symbol of the desecration of heritage where only cultural value no longer exists," says the Forum.
According to this group of heritage specialists, the castle built on the ruins of a Byzantine church has been transformed into a series of pizzerias and cafes, stripping it of any cultural value.

The Shkodra or Rozafa Castle carries on its walls, in addition to the history and culture of the country, the legend that gave it its name, reminding us of both the promise given and the myth of construction and destruction.
