The restriction of stay in European Union countries to only 3 months within a 180-day period has caused Truckers' Associations from Western Balkan countries, such as Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, to block activity from April 14 to April 16 in protest.
According to truckers, the permission to stay only 90 days in EU countries prevents them from working beyond the borders of their countries of origin.
The blockage of their activity is also reflected at the Hani i Hoti Border Crossing Point, where this Tuesday since 09:30, no cargo trucks have entered Albanian territory.
The Border Police announces that for security reasons and to avoid road blockages or possible incidents, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to circulate from Albania to Montenegro until the end of the 72-hour protest. Also, on the road axes leading to the border crossings with the Republic of Montenegro, only small vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and passenger transport vehicles will be allowed to circulate.
The Border Police requests the understanding of drivers of heavy tonnage vehicles to respect the movement restriction period, in order to avoid road blockages or possible incidents.
