With songs, dances, full of joy, happiness and colors, this is how Summer Day was welcomed throughout the country.
The city of Elbasan remains the center of the Summer Day celebrations, where activities and concerts were held since the beginning of the week, culminating on March 14. The city's brass band held a parade in the main square of Elbasan, while children and adults took part in numerous activities. According to tradition, Elbasan housewives had prepared the traditional dessert of this holiday, ballokumen, which was found at every stand of the culinary fair set up in the city. Citizens from all over Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, as well as numerous immigrants joined the celebration in Elbasan.
Summer Day was also celebrated in Tirana, where many citizens joined the celebration organized in the capital. The greatest attention on this day was paid to children, who wore summer clothes and enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the day that marks the arrival of spring.
Midsummer Day celebrations in the southeast of the country began on the evening of March 13, when, according to pagan rites, bonfires were lit to symbolize the departure of winter and the arrival of spring. The celebrations continued through March 14.
Gjirokastra welcomed Summer Day with a warm atmosphere, transforming the Viroi Natural Park into the center of activities for all attendees. The celebrations began with a children's concert, while a traditional food fair attracted the attention of visitors.
Numerous activities were also held in Durrës and Vlora, where the two coastal cities dressed in spring attire, to welcome tourists from all over the world.
With the colors of spring, full of songs and dances, Summer Day was celebrated in Lushnje and Kavajë, where children's artistic performances brought this celebration to life.
