The Special Court today announced the verdict in the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko, an event that occurred on August 27, 2019.
Journalist Klodiana Lala reports on BalkanWeb that the trial panel decided that the defendant Leonard Duka be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Erlis Duka was found not guilty of the Malko murder, as well as all other episodes of possession of weapons, while the security measure was lifted, being completely acquitted of the charges. Likewise, the GJKKO sentenced Fatmir Hyseni, known by the nickname 'Doça', to 25 years in prison, the same sentence for Aleksandër Manjxaku.
Meanwhile, Oltian Loga was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Previously, Blendi Teta and Ilir Selmani were convicted of this murder. Santiago Malko was executed in August 2019, after the criminal group failed to kill Ervis Martinaj, whom they considered a sworn enemy. Leonard Duka and Ervis Martinaj clashed over gambling.
