The Chairman of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, has convened the Socialist Party Assembly in Elbasan.

During his speech, Rama declared that the country has never been closer to realizing "a historic dream," referring to membership in the European Union.

He stressed that the coming years will be decisive and the most difficult for the integration process, while demanding more responsibility and awareness from the Socialist Party structures. Rama also stated that the SP must confront “forces and factors” that, according to him, are against the government and the reform process.

"This meeting is in line with the need for dialogue on important topics at the moment Albania is going through. We have never been so close to realizing a historic dream. We must be aware that the last steps of the 3-4 years ahead of us are even more difficult, because it is the phase when we must align our entire state organization with that of the EU, in terms of not only laws but also standards. We need awareness to feel our responsibility together. PS our political family must face without losing clarity and motivation to move forward faster with a set of forces and factors that are completely against us. The force of political, media, social factors in the sense of presence on social networks that produce and distribute in a dizzying way lies and half-truths, accusations, news that even when they are not untrue are placed in an inverse proportion to reality", he said, while reiterating the fact that the opposition's accusations that the media is captured by government are not reality.
