The President of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka-Pula, received Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Thursday, in their first meeting after taking office as president.

After the meeting, Kurti stated that Kosovo's institutions must cooperate to address the challenges facing the country, emphasizing that after a long period of political deadlock, there is no time to waste.

"The first meeting with the president and a welcome and commitment to great and daily work for the interest of all citizens, without distinction. I thanked her very much, who honored us with her acceptance of the candidacy. Now a lot of work awaits us. Kosovo, finally, after more than a year, has functional institutions and now we have no time to waste. We must come together for the many state challenges that lie ahead," declared Kurti.

Justina Shiroka-Pula was elected president of Kosovo with 81 votes in the Assembly, in a vote held at midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. Her election came at the end of the constitutional deadline, which set October 6 as the last date for electing a president.

Shiroka-Pula's candidacy was secured after a political agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

In her first visit after taking office, President Shiroka-Pula paid homage at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz. She also visited the graves of former President Ibrahim Rugova and activist Adem Demaçi.
