The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Pogradec Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office where criminal proceedings were initiated against the citizens: BD, 35 years old, resident of Elbasan, AT, 40 years old, and S. Ç., 34 years old, both residents of Pogradec, on duty as doctors at the Pogradec maternity hospital.

On the evening of 30.08.2026, citizen MK, 36 years old, 7 months pregnant, presented herself at the Pogradec maternity hospital in poor health. After examination by these three doctors, the 36-year-old was taken by ambulance for specialized medical assistance at a maternity hospital in Tirana, but since her health condition deteriorated along the way, she was taken to the maternity hospital in Elbasan, where it was determined that she had lost her life.

The procedural materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action, for the criminal offense of "Neglect in Medical Treatment".
