The Kosovo national team has risen in the new FIFA rankings, which were released on Monday afternoon, just a day after the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations. From 80th place in December, Kosovo has now climbed to 79th position, which is the best ranking in history for the Dardanians.

This move was also made possible by Gabon's fall of eight places, after losing three matches at the Africa Cup of Nations, placing them in 86th position. As a result, several national teams, including Kosovo, have gained one or two positions.

In March, the Dardanian national team faces the historic challenge of the 2026 World Cup play-offs. On March 26, Kosovo plays the semi-final against Slovakia in Bratislava. The winner of this duel will face Turkey or Romania in the final.
