The Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Tirana has decided to change the previous criminal decision against the former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici. With the new decision, the remaining part of the sentence will be in the form of house arrest, ending his stay in prison.

This comes after the examination of the convict's own request for a more lenient measure, which was accepted by the Court. Safet Gjici will remain in his apartment, obliged by the court's decision, to complete the remaining time of his sentence.

Thus, the former head of the Kukes Municipality will complete the remainder of his sentence outside of prison, but under supervision.
