Activist Ilir Xhemalaj, in the 52nd protest against Prime Minister Edi Rama, called on citizens to continue their stay in the square until the government leaves.
Commenting on the Prime Minister's statements from Thethi on the Mountain Package and the development of rural areas, Xhemalaj raised concerns about the depopulation of villages and the lack of basic services in many areas of the country.
"Today the prime minister said that he will not withdraw from the Mountains Package, he said he will do it like Switzerland. But who will take the lands? Albania is depopulated," he said.
The activist challenged the prime minister to visit rural areas in the south of the country, taking his village in the Tepelena province as an example.
"I challenge the Prime Minister to go to my village in the Tepelena region. There are no roads, no electricity, no water, no services, but above all there are no people. So, Prime Minister, who will take these lands?" declared Xhemalaj.
He also criticized the government's policies on property and agricultural lands, claiming that the country is facing a process of asset sales.
"Today the prime minister said that he will not withdraw from the mountains package, he said he will do it like Switzerland... Who will take the lands... Albania is depopulated. I challenge the prime minister to go to my village in the Tepelena region, there are no roads, no electricity, no water, no services, but above all there are no people. Then prime minister, who will take these lands? You should resign. A few days ago, a law was passed for the sale of agricultural lands. All of Albania is for sale, the prime minister is showing off. You should resign," he said.
