The DP and its supporters descend on the capital's central Boulevard, in a national protest against the Government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, after the latter blocked the lifting of immunity for Belinda Balluku, rejecting SPAK's request for her arrest.
Balluku is accused of corruption with tenders and SPAK and GJKKO have imposed the security measure of suspension from exercising her functions on her, but the Constitutional Court reinstated her, at least until January 22, when the case will be reviewed on its merits.
The opposition thus begins the season of protests against Rama, as announced by Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha.
The leader of the DP has made a strong statement, saying that "if Prime Minister Edi Rama does not leave, the opposition risks dissolving."
The protest on Monday, December 22, started about 30 minutes late. DP leader Sali Berisha joined the protesters at 18:30 p.m. He marched on foot from the blue headquarters towards the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
