The 51st anti-government protest has ended. Thousands of people continue to gather in the capital demanding political change and the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
With banners and slogans against the majority, the protesters declare that their resistance will continue and that the demands are non-negotiable.
In the march through the streets of Tirana, chants echoed: “Edi Rama resigns”, “Your end has come”, “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison” and “Albania wants a revolution”. Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with the political class, accusing it of corruption and lack of representation. They have also criticized the Parliament, describing it as an institution that does not serve the interests of citizens.
"On the 23rd, we must be here, not absent," said one of the activists during the protest, calling for continued civic participation.
Meanwhile, protesters continued to chant slogans against the MPs and the Parliament. "No more Zegjine," "140 MPs, all illiterate," and "Parliament of crime" were some of the chants heard during the march.
After the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the protesters held their march on some of the main axes of the capital, repeating calls against Prime Minister Edi Rama and demanding a reaction from SPAK.
"Arrest Rama!", was one of the repeated calls during the march and at its conclusion by citizens.
The protest has been ongoing for 51 days with the main demand being the removal of Rama and a profound change in the way of governance.
