The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused the government of engaging in corrupt lobbies that are blocking the integration process.
He said that the government does not provide any information about the process in question to the opposition and Albanian citizens.
"The drug cartel, with its lobbying, manages to exclude Albanians from the integration process. If Serbs and Macedonians receive accurate information after each meeting, the Albanian government does not provide any information. It does not issue any statement or line. You have heard the IBAR report. It is an interim assessment report of the two main chapters. You should know that the opposition finds out through its friends in meetings and there is no meeting. It is not a closed process, but a representative of the Albanian government participates in it, who undertakes not to say a word to the country, but to its Prime Minister. Albania bases this process on shameful lobbying. I call on the EU and its member states to condemn this shameful pro-action. Here they stand up and accuse the opposition for the speeches it gives in Strasbourg, for the demands it presents. We have declared and declare before Albanians and internationals that this country, apart from the geopolitical criterion, absolutely does not meet any other criterion required by the EU. In meetings we have verified the slippage of democracy since the removal of the monitoring process. Major electoral farce, drug cartels, the terrible blockage of the punishment and arrest of Balluk. These are the setbacks, never before have 28 thousand hectares of cannabis been given in an electoral campaign and 2 billion euros in fines and interest have not been forgiven," he said.
