Italy is about to open a new chapter in the national team. The President of the Italian Football Federation, Giovanni Malagò, together with the technical director Paolo Maldini and his collaborator Leonardo, have entered the decisive phase for the selection of the new coach who will lead the "Azzurra" until the 2030 World Cup.

According to Italian media, the list of candidates has been narrowed down to four big names. Andrea Pirlo, praised for his modern profile and philosophy of play, is at the top of the list. Antonio Conte, one of the long-time favorites, and Roberto Mancini, a name closely linked to the federation's leaders, also remain in the race.

Meanwhile, the name that arouses the most enthusiasm is that of Pep Guardiola. However, the approach of the Spanish technician remains a difficult operation, due to the high financial cost and the circumstances that must be met. Moreover, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee has publicly expressed his support for the appointment of an Italian coach at the head of the National Team.

As for the official announcement, Malagò did not give an exact deadline, but hinted that the decision could be made very soon. In any case, by July 23, when the Federation leaders will present the new National Team project to Lega Calcio, Italy is expected to have its new coach.
