The Faculty of Economics at Luarasi University held the Second International Scientific Conference on Economy, Globalism and Identity. In collaboration with the Universities of Poitiers and Montpellier in France, the Aldo Moro University in Bari and several Albanian institutions, the attendees spoke about “The Multiple Challenges of Economic Development in the Economies of Small Countries”. In his welcoming speech, the Rector of Luarasi, Prof. Dr. Av. Maksim Haxhia emphasized the importance of the discussions.
"Luarasi University remains committed to initiating analysis, scientific debate and critical thinking. All of this in order to form a new generation that is not only oriented and understands the global world, in all its dimensions and parameters, but also knows how to preserve and promote its identity in this new reality," said Haxhia.
The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Natasha Ahmetaj, highlighted the role of the knowledge economy.
Recalling the mistakes of the Albanian economy in these 35 years, mistakes with land, unqualified construction, pyramid schemes, drugs and the abandonment of villages, Professor Sherif Bundo analyzed foreign investments and the mistakes that continue to be made. According to him, if in 2025 1.4 billion euros were invested in the Albanian economy, it turns out that in addition to the purchase of properties, reinvestments, investments by emigrants or foreign companies with Albanian investors: "Only 8-11% of these investments are investments in photovoltaic parks"
Bundo said that our country is an economy that manages emergencies provoked by fires, floods, droughts, investment errors and road collapses with figures ranging from 140 million to 1.4 billion euros.
