DP MP Kreshnik Çollaku declared on News 24 that the internal war has massacred the Democratic Party. He said that only Sali Berisha truly wanted unification and called for a “big rostrum” for all Democrats.
Çollaku stressed that the May 11 elections were a farce and the failure was predictable. According to him, the DP has no future without a deep analysis and radical change.
DP MP Kreshnik Çollaku: On May 11, we failed for many factors. There is an electoral farce, there is an industry of vote theft for the fourth time in a row. There is an electoral farce, but responsibilities must also be held. The DP must stop this industry of election theft. For the fourth time, the elections are stolen, which means that there is a big problem even within the opposition's conception. A big rostrum of all democrats is needed. The disease must be cured, egos must be stopped and attention must be paid to the crisis. On May 11, a compromise was made, but there was no unity.
Only Berisha wanted the unification, no one else wanted it, everyone was trying to maintain their position. The internal war has massacred the DP. In the primaries there were two voting lists. The primaries got out of Berisha's control. Many Democrats were left out of the primaries. The defeat was predicted. An analysis must be made, because I do not see a future for the Democratic Party. If we call it an electoral farce, the mandates may be blocked, the parliamentary group must take a stand. The Electoral Code forgives Rama 12-13 mandates on the table. The Electoral Code was a big mistake of the DP. Open lists are a disaster for parties. I am for a majoritarian system. Berisha put an article in the statute that the president must leave, also out of anger with the opponent, as the opponents also had anger towards Berisha, and it was called the 'Basha article'. I think that Berisha will solve this problem of (non)resignation himself. Berisha brings 300-400 thousand votes at any time. But these votes do not lead to power. But, even without Berisha, the DP does not get better. Whoever thinks so, has lied to himself or has served an opponent of Berisha.
