The year 2025 marked a significant reconfiguration of the Life insurance market in Albania, where Albsig Jetë, licensed in September 2019, managed to position itself as the market leader, in only its sixth year of operation. Official data show that the company has benefited from strong and sustainable growth, mainly driven by the significant expansion of the Debtor Life Insurance portfolio.
Life insurance market growing, but with strong structural changes
Overall, gross written premiums in Life insurance increased by 17.6% in 2025, reaching around 2.44 billion lek, from 2.07 billion lek a year earlier. However, this growth was not linear for all companies, as the market was characterized by significant shifts in market weights and differentiated growth by product.
In this context, Albsig Jetë turns out to be the most prominent performer of the year, recording an annual increase in gross written premiums of 87.8%, from 500 million lek in 2024 to around 939 million lek in 2025. As a result, its market share expanded significantly, reaching 38.6%, from 24.1% a year earlier.
Doubling the Debtor's Life, the main engine of growth
Albsig Jetë's performance is closely linked to the performance of Debtor Life Insurance, the dominant market segment. In 2025, gross written premiums in this product increased by 15.3% at the market level, reaching 1.89 billion lekë.
Within this segment, Albsig Jetë recorded more than double growth, with premiums increasing from 437 million lekë in 2024 to around 881 million lekë in 2025, or 101.5% more. As a result, the company significantly increased its share in this market, holding 46.7% of total Debtor Life premiums, up from 26.7% a year earlier.
This expansion reflects not only the increase in lending and cooperation with the banking sector, but also the company's capacity to manage a high volume of contracts, as the total number of Life insurance contracts in the market increased by 21.7%, while Debtor Life continues to hold over 72% of the total active contracts.
Controlled claims management and financial stability
In parallel with the rapid growth of premiums, Albsig Jetë has maintained a controlled claims profile. In the total market, gross claims paid in Life insurance fell by 4.2%, to around 320 million lekë.
For Albsig Jetë, gross claims paid increased to 41 million lekë, but its share in the total remains affordable and in line with the portfolio expansion.
Spahiu: Growth built on customer trust and the support of the Kastrati Group
Albsig Jetë's General Director, Ervin Spahiu, estimates that the 2025 performance is the result of a strategy built on long-term foundations:
“The year 2025 confirmed the maturity of our business model. Albsig Jetë's strong growth is built on sustainable partnerships, a focus on real customer needs, as well as the great support of the Kastrati Group. Our objective for 2026 is further consolidation in the Life market and expansion with innovative products.”
With a growth rate that has taken it from a new company to a market leader within six years, Albsig Jetë enters 2026 with the ambition to deepen its dominant position, becoming one of the key players in the development of Life insurance in Albania.
