Socialist MP Erjon Braçe spoke in harsh tones on the floor of the Parliament about the price increase, saying that Albanian farmers are being treated like slaves and are being forced to leave to work abroad.

From the Parliament podium, Braçe harshly addressed the left and right MPs, stating that "You scoundrels who talk to each other on the phones and I tell you that it is the farmers who vote for us. Mr. Duka, I will vote for your draft law on agriculture."

"I was very happy to hear that the tax for salaries up to ALL 50 will be reduced to zero. Five months ago, I said it in the Economy Committee, but it was denied, opposed and voted against, and today it is being talked about. We are talking about wheat, where no one is taking it, except the robbers who have set the price where they want. I have a reservation, and I want to say to the proposer here, that the time of 'ad hoc' instruments is over. Albanian agriculture needs a scholarship and needs it now, a transparent national instrument, in order for the farmer to get his sweat. It's fundamental, because disaster is happening.

I understand that it is now lunchtime and everyone has gone to eat, and I feel like reminding you, both left and right, that that tomato costs only 50 lek, that onion costs only 20 lek, that wheat that has been sitting in the ground for eight months without any kind of subsidy from the government yesterday in Tërbuf cost only 36 lek, so 4-5-6-7 lek at a loss. Nobody listens and nobody reflects on this fact. Why do you want those people to go work as slaves abroad and not plant their lands here? The state should not leave those people. You are making fun of the blood, sweat and labor of the farmer. You scoundrels who talk to each other on the phones and I tell you that it is the farmers who vote for us. Mr. Duka, I will vote for your draft law on agriculture", said Braçe.
