The ship "Moliva" with over 100 containers suspected of containing hazardous waste arrived at the port of Durres on Monday morning, although it has not yet anchored at the port.
Journalist Klodjana Haxhiaj reported for "BalkanWeb"The ship Moliva with 200 containers of hazardous waste has stopped 1.5 miles from the Port of Rada."
The cargo, believed to contain ash from metallurgical chimneys, was sent from Albania in July this year to Thailand, which rejected it after the alert was raised by the Seattle-based non-governmental organization 'Basel Action Network'. It is not clear how the Albanian authorities will act in this case, which said that, while the case is under investigation, it is up to the Prosecutor's Office to determine the procedures to be followed.
Meanwhile, yesterday, representatives of the Democratic Party and civil society protested at the entrance to the port.
