Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji, invited to the "Studio24" show, spoke about the clashes within the opposition and his relationship with the DP leadership, emphasizing that his political positions are separate from both the majority and the current opposition leadership.
"I share with Edi Rama all the things that share with Sali Berisha," said Salianji, underlining his political distancing from the mentalities of the two leaders.
He also focused on international examples of changes within political parties, citing the case of Peter Magyar, saying that it cannot be used as a comparison for political unification in Albania.
"The case of Peter Magyar has nothing to do with the merger. Who did he merge with? Magyar was not a senior official in Orban's party, he was a representative in an embassy... he came out at a moment when the government's morale was broken," he said.
Salianji emphasized that his decision to be part of the internal debate in the DP is related to political responsibility and not to personal benefits.
"I'm leaving, I had all the privileges, I could still be an MP, but this does not serve Albania and the opposition. I cannot be complicit with others who cannot overcome their privileges for Albania," he declared.
