The Criminal Court has rejected the request of the president of the PL, Ilir Meta, to leave the cell.
Meta requested the replacement of the measure in exchange for a financial guarantee of 50 thousand euros. An offer that was rejected by the panel of judges.
The PL president was not present at the hearing, but was represented by defense attorney Kujtim Cakrani. The latter said he will appeal the GJKKO decision, adding that the battle does not end here.
Ilir Meta has been in prison since October 21, 2024, while he faces several charges from SPAK such as abuse of office, corruption, concealment of assets and money laundering.
