There seems to be a massive misunderstanding about the Friday meetings at 17:00 PM. People have assumed they are going there to cry out their grievances. No sir. You are going there to hear the grievances of the government.
If we use the yardstick, after 13 years in power, the government has more problems than the entire people combined. But Albanians, by nature, are selfish. They only think about their own problems.
The government is struggling day and night for these people and yet there are still dissatisfied people.
The government is worried that some prosecutors and judges have not yet understood how the division of labor works: tenders, PPPs, and strategic investments are for friends and family, while the law is for opponents.
It's a shame that people complain that life has become unaffordable, instead of seeing it as a national policy for mobility. When life gets too expensive here, the government is giving you the chance to try life somewhere else, to try Europe if you don't have the patience until 2030. You're being given an opportunity that, surprisingly, not everyone is taking advantage of, and even complaining about. Not even the lazy ones complain that much.
The government is worried that the SPAK files and wiretaps are interpreted as corruption. Meanwhile, if you read them with a different eye, you see officials and ministers who think 24 hours a day about how to develop private initiative. The homeland starts at your home - a famous poet once said. The people rightly say: "do not expect good from someone who does not do good for himself".
It's a shame that citizens want water, roads, hospitals, schools and salaries, when in the meantime they have just been given BESA, Prania Besnike and Pasqyrë Albania. This is a lack of gratitude, not to mention something more serious – a lack of education.
It's a shame that people continue to compare salaries with prices. The government today compares them with the salaries of 2013, citizens with the prices of 2026. These are two completely different methodologies, which is why two different Albanias emerge.
It's funny how every time a road segment is inaugurated, someone asks when the rest will be finished. Every time a construction site opens, someone dares to ask when it will be finished and like morbid curiosity they want to know how much it costs and go so far as to make comparisons with the cost in the EU. Every time a promise is made, some annoying idiot comes out who remembers the previous promise.
The government is troubled that after four terms, citizens still expect the government to take responsibility for the problems. When it is known that yesterday's governments, starting with Ahmet Zogu's, today's opposition, the media, the courts, prosecutors, the EU, Russia, global warming and, let's be blunt, the citizens themselves, are responsible for today's problems. In a free society, the individual must take responsibility for himself.
The government has been listening to the people for 13 years, but the people still haven't learned to listen to the government.
So on Friday, at 17:00 PM, don't go with your troubles. Sit down, listen, and show a little empathy because there is no greater trouble for a visionary government than a people who don't understand.
