An extraordinary story of survival has emerged from Venezuela, where a mother and her three children have been pulled alive after 11 days trapped under the rubble of a building collapsed by devastating earthquakes.
The rescue took place in the La Guaira area, one of the hardest hit by the two powerful earthquakes of June 24. The family was found under the rubble of the OPP building, where they had remained isolated since the day of the disaster.
International aid teams have helped carry out Venezuela's "miracle rescues" after the twin earthquakes struck, but are now preparing to leave.

According to authorities, the mother managed to keep her three children alive by breastfeeding them throughout the entire lockdown period, until rescue teams were able to locate and pull them from the rubble.
Meanwhile, the toll from the tragedy continues to mount. According to Venezuelan authorities, 3,685 deaths and 16,740 injuries have been confirmed so far, while tens of thousands of people are still missing.
The earthquakes have damaged or collapsed about 60 buildings, leaving thousands of families homeless. Experts warn that, in addition to the consequences of the earthquakes, the affected areas also face the risk of epidemics due to the lack of clean water and difficult sanitary conditions.
