The news was confirmed by his family. According to his brother, actor Keith Carradine, Robert struggled with bipolar disorder for nearly 20 years.

Born on March 24, 1954, in Los Angeles, Carradine came from a well-known acting family. He was the son of legendary actor John Carradine and part of a well-known Hollywood dynasty.
