In recent months, he has undergone intensive care in Italy and Germany, but despite this, he could not cope with the second serious illness. Yesterday afternoon, he returned to Albania, while it was announced that his condition was deteriorating.
Shortly before the June 25 elections, Prifti claimed that he was facing a serious illness, which did not allow him to be part of the campaign.
He said he was physically unable to do so as he had been battling an aggressive and difficult blood disease for over a year. The priest served as Minister of Energy in 2009-2010.
