Tribute to Skënder Haluc

Friends, Skënder Haluci, a survivor of the communist genocide, former president of the Vlora Court, husband, parent and exemplary citizen, prematurely closed his eyes forever.

Descendant of a patriotic and anti-communist family, imbued with the best human values ​​and virtues, Skënder Haluci, from his early youth, faced the most savage political persecution due to his family origin: brutal arrest, the most inhuman torture and capital punishment with death, and then 25 years in prison, for a crime he had never committed.

After spending 10 years of his youth in the darkest prisons of the Hoxha dictatorship, he was released along with the last political prisoners of the communist regime. He joined, like thousands of his fellow sufferers, the Democratic Movement and made a valuable contribution to the overthrow of the most brutal dictatorship in Europe.

The harsh years of prison not only did not take away Skënder's university dream, but made it even stronger. After graduation, he was appointed to important positions in the judicial system, up to the position of President of the Vlora Court, which he performed with honesty, skill and dignity.

However, the same party that sentenced him to death in his youth removed him from office at the peak of his skills, experience, and dedication.
